Jaco Pieterse, manager of the communications unit at the NSPCA, said the NSPCA is aware of the matter and the Roodepoort SPCA is conducting a full investigation.
“When members of the public witness such animal cruelty they need to contact their local SPCA immediately so that the SPCA can respond without any delay in order to get the required evidence. It is very difficult to prove any criminal activity without any evidence,” Pieterse explained.
“Massmart is commended for taking swift action and for suspending the employee,” he added. Massdiscounters is a division of Massmart. Massdiscounters operates two retail formats, namely Game and DionWired.
According to Pieterse, the NSPCA will keep a close eye on this matter and ensure that justice is served for this cat.
