UPDATE: Cyclist killer still at large

MULDERSDRIFT – Can you help police find the driver who knocked over and killed a cyclist?

There is still no trace of the vehicle which knocked over and killed a cyclist on Hendrik Potgieter Road on 30 March.

Spokesperson for Muldersdrift Police Station, Warrant Officer Masedi Masedi confirmed to Roodepoort Northsider that no information has come forward regarding the wanted vehicle.

However, he stated that the docket was handed over to the public prosecutor in Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court for further investigation.

“At the moment, the docket is with the public prosecutor in Krugersdorp, but the vehicle has not been identified as yet,” Masedi explained.

He added that police are still urgently seeking eyewitnesses to assist them in identifying the vehicle.

It was reported that the cyclist was hit by an unidentified vehicle and allegedly dragged by the vehicle for about 20 metres and left alongside the road near Cradle Stone Mall.

Gerhard Visagie from BCI Security said they raced to the scene at 6.15am and the vehicle involved could not be traced.

“[There is] no trace or idea on the make and model of the vehicle involved,” Visagie said.

Masedi also mentioned that the family of the deceased has been notified and will be meeting with the investigating officer to identify the body after a post-mortem examination.
