Stand back Usain Bolt, here comes Rorisang Tsaagane
LITTLE FALLS – Rorisang Tsaagane (10) is the proud owner of a South African Athletics Championship bronze medal.
Rorisang Tsaagane (10), who attends Trinityhouse Little Falls Preparatory School, took the bronze medal in the U10 1 200m at the South African School Athletics National Primary Schools Track and Field Championships, in Potchefstroom.
Tsaagane may have made placing third in the race look easy at the championships in Potchefstroom, but his mother, Elaine, said he is a very dedicated person in all aspects.
“He is a well-rounded learner and is interested in academics and extra-mural activities at school,” she said.”He has consistently taken part in athletics and cricket in primary school, being a member of the U9A cricket squad in 2016.”
Elaine added that Tsaagane also represented the school in the D12 district in the Gauteng cross-country championships held at Thaba Trails in the south of Johannesburg last year.
This year, he won the U10 boys 1 200m race at the D12 District Championships at Ruimsig Athletics Stadium, narrowly missing out on the district record.

He then participated in the Gauteng Championships at the Pilditch Stadium in Pretoria in the beginning of March, the final stepping stone to the SA championships.
Elaine said Tsaagane modelled himself on his grandfather who was also a keen athlete and had completed 12 Two Oceans ultra-marathons and 22 Comrades marathons.
Besides his long distance running, Tsaagane is also a keen footballer and has been training at the Supersport United Soccer Schools centre in Randpark Ridge since 2014.
He played in the U9 Supersport academy team last year and helped his team win their league in the Grand Central league, finishing as the leading goal-scorer in his team.
He has also been selected to represent Supersport in a team that will be participating at the Mundialito 2017 International Football Tournament to be held in Spain in April.
Tsaagane thanked the Trinityhouse teachers, his coaches and friends for their support.
