Be Your Dream leaves unforgettable memories

RUIMSIG – Annual winter wonderland festival to raise funds for education.

Ruimsig Athletic Stadium became the centre of attraction for parents and children from 24 to 26 March when Be Your Dream, a TV programme that funds bursaries for underprivileged children, hosted their annual winter wonderland festival to raise funds for education.

Jam packed fun stuff at the Be Your Dream festival.

The weekend was jam-packed with fun outdoor activities, featuring performances from elite superstars and many food stalls and car exhibitions.

The event attracted over 30 schools and churches in the area.

The attendees enjoyed exciting activities such as a beauty pageant, trolley run, charity walk, amazing races on 4×4 tracks, ice skating and a snow pool for the children.

Larnie Solomon, the event organiser, spoke about the initiative.

“The event is about Be Your Dream television programme that raises funds to hand out bursaries to underprivileged children,” she said.

Solomon told Roodepoort Northsider that last year they were able to fund over 80 students through the same programme.

“Last year alone we gave out about 89 bursaries. Because of the economy, a lot of people pulled out and we had to fund those bursaries by ourselves, that is why we are having the festival to raise funds,” Solomon explained.

She also mentioned that they hosted the event with the aim to exceed the number of bursaries they funded last year.

One of the supportive parents, Josiah Seeiso, who was having fun with his son Reamogetse during the second day of the festival, gave the event a thumbs-up.

He said, “I like the event because it exposes my son to diverse cultures and different games. It’s also good for his physical development.”
