Nail-biting victories at golf champs
RUIMSIG – See the winners at the Ruimsig Country Club's golf championships
The Ruimsig Country Club enjoyed two weekends of spectacular golf at its 2017 Club Championships.
The competition kick-started with a two-day 36-hole men’s championships followed by the ladies, senior and junior club championships.

The club’s golf director, Charles Jerrard was left amazed by the number of young participants this year.
“What is particularly noteworthy is the [number] of juniors who entered and participated in the club champs,” said Jerrard.

During the competition, all eyes were on Shaun Jones (17) in the build-up of the junior division, having won the men’s club champs.
Jones started his round off exceptionally well, however, he was outplayed by 18-year-old Keelan van Wyk who walked away victorious, claiming the 2017 Junior Club Championship title.

The ladies championship was won by 16-year-old Cara Ford, an improving amateur golfer who has participated in many ladies amateur events throughout the country.
Gary Geddes, the club’s CEO, expressed his views about the ladies division.

“The ladies section has grown significantly, and is well overseen by the [club’s] lady captain, Michele Craig,” said Geddes, adding that not only was Craig a great captain and leader but also a fine golfer having won the ladies B division club championship.

The senior club championship was won by Niel West.
