Grade 12s and the extramural dance group from Allen Glen High School recently raised money by selling pancakes.
Checkers Allens Nek and Rock Cottage approached the school with the idea of schoolchildren selling pancakes at their respective branches as a way to give back to the community.

Checkers provided all the ingredients, equipment and workspace, while the schoolchildren were the bakers. Besides learning the art of making pancakes, the Grade 12s raised funds for their matric farewell as well as money for their dance group.
In total, about R6 000 was handed over to the school on 22 March.
Afrikaans teacher, Chanelle Kolver, who was in charge of organising schoolchildren said, “The learners had fun and were able to learn new skills.”
It was the first time the school has entered into such a partnership with a business.
