Schoolchildren of Welridge Academy spoilt on headmaster’s birthday

ROODEPOORT – Read about how much fun was had at Roodepoort-based academy.

Schoolchildren of Welridge Academy in Roodepoort enjoyed a few hours off from their studies, thanks to Janine Joubert, the principal of the academy who was celebrating her birthday during the week.

Welridge schoolchildren have fun.

As part of her birthday celebration, Joubert decided to host a splash day for the entire school.

The schoolchildren enjoyed playing and dancing on sponsored jumping castles and a slippery slide.

Jourbet told Roodepoort Northsider that the function formed part of their charity fundraiser for the school.

“Last year proceeds were donated to animal welfare and this year we’ve decided to fundraise for our own learners. Even though we are [a private school], but we have some learners that can’t afford certain school items like stationery,” Joubert said.

She expressed her gratitude to the sponsors who made the day fun and exciting.

“I would like to thank Spur, Gladiator Inflatables and Vumatel [fibre installation company] for spoiling the kids,” she said.

Vumatel’s fibrehood manager John West-Lewis said apart from doing a very expensive project in Weltrevreden Park, the company also has a duty of giving back to the community.

The company sponsored a candy floss maker for the event and data bundles for the school.
