Eyewitnesses needed in Witpoortjie accident

Information on accident needed

A Witpoortjie resident who was involved an a collision on 4 January is asking for eyewitnesses to contact her.

The accident occurred at about 5.15pm at the corner of Generaal Pienaar Avenue and Ham Street. Miedel Smith and her husband, Vincent were travelling in a white BMW on Generaal Pienaar Avenue towards Witpoortjie Pick n Pay when a young woman in a silver Daihatsu Sirion collided with them.

The Smiths’ car was pushed across the road and into the signage at the Engen garage. According to Smith, the woman (who had a baby with her in the vehicle) left the scene before the police arrived.

Smith is asking for any eyewitnesses who saw the accident to please contact them. “The facts of what exactly happened on that day are now being twisted and we need eyewitnesses to ensure the correct facts are given,” Smith said.
