Cyclist tragically dies after truck run over
LITTLE FALLS – Horrific accidents on Hendrik Potgieter Road in less than 24 hours.
A cyclist was killed on 7 March after being run over by a truck on Hendrik Potgieter Road near Little Falls.
It was said the man was cycling to work when the truck struck him and dragged him. Paramedics at the scene declared him dead.

Within 24 hours of the incident, a motorcyclist was hit by a car on the Hendrik Potgieter and Cascades Road intersection.
According to a BCI Protection Services Facebook post, the motorcyclist sustained minor injuries to his lower body and was treated at the scene by paramedics.
A concerned resident, Helen MacDonald told Roodepoort Northsider that for the past two years she had sent a petition to the city council regarding speeding on Cascades and Florin roads.
She added that she had pleaded with the relevant departments to install speed bumps.

Ward 85 councillor Carl Mann said before people started pointing fingers, a proper investigation by Johannesburg Roads Agency has to be conducted to establish the leading cause of accidents at the intersection.
He added that the agency had to conduct a road investigation and observe how accidents occurred.
Mann also mentioned that most accidents were due to driver behaviour. “It is very difficult when people don’t obey the rules of the road. [Motorists] don’t obey speed limits,” said Mann.
