A scholar in Grade 8 at Allen Glen High School is receiving trauma counselling at school after he was allegedly forced into a black Volkswagen Polo and robbed of his phone while walking to school last week.
The incident happened on 2 March in the morning, a few metres from the school.
According to a Facebook message, the boy was robbed by four suspects. It is unclear whether the boy was assaulted or not.
However, the school is providing counselling after the incident.
“The learner has been instructed to see the guidance department for ongoing support,” said Warren Mackill, chairman of the School Governing Body (SGB).
Mackill told Roodepoort Northsider that the youngster was debriefed and signed out to go and open a case at Honeydew Police Station.
“We are waiting for feedback from the parents with regards to the case,” explained Mackill.
He added that an announcement was made at the school’s assembly to caution the learners about walking alone.
Local authorities have been given a description of the vehicle and the perpetrators.
Police spokesperson Captain Balan Muthan said, “At this stage, no case has been opened.”
Recently, Muthan issued a warning to residents, particularly women, to refrain from walking alone in secluded areas especially in the evenings or early hours of the morning following an attempted rape incident in Little Falls.
