Well done for a clean cemetery

Rosemary from Florida writes:

A couple of weeks ago you published an article about two councillors being responsible for tidying up the Florida graveyard.

My niece is out from New York and we visited my brother-in-law’s grave at Florida graveyard today (24 February). During past visits, we have been wary as the place was always overgrown and there were vagrants living there too, which made our visits uncomfortable.

What a lovely surprise we had today. The pavements had been mown and there was evidence that a considerable amount of rubble had been removed. The grass was neatly mown despite the rains we have had. Immediately my niece remarked that you could see that the DA were in power now. I also looked around at old graves, and I remember that the article said that the oldest grave was from 1911. I found two grave sites, one was from 1889 and the other 1891.

Thank you to all the people who were responsible for cleaning and tidying up the graveyard. I am sure that there are many people who will now visit their loved ones and maybe even their ancestors who were laid to rest there. Well done.
