The WorldVentures Foundation, the non-profit arm of WorldVentures, one of the world’s largest sellers of travel club memberships, has once again shown its support of the community of Bosmont and surrounds. On 10 February, independent representatives of WorldVentures gathered at Bosmont’s Football Association armed with the equipment they needed to repair and revamp the centre. The centre provides a safe place for the youth, 95% of whom are from under-privileged backgrounds, to participate in team sports.
What is most impressive about this event is that although it is supported by WorldVentures head office, the event is run by individual business owners who work within the WorldVentures system. One hundred and thirty volunteers attended the event, driving it and ensuring that the Association got what it needs to continue to provide a safe space for young men and women from the community to gather and play sports.
“They not only learn how to play soccer, they learn how to become good team players, they learn to trust themselves and their abilities, and they find a community of people who understand them,” explained Bosmont Football Association Chairperson, Isaac de Jong.
With limited safe facilities for recreational activities, the youth of the Bosmont community make full use of the Association and there is a constant flow of youngsters through the facility, resulting in quite a bit of wear-and-tear on the centre and its field.
“We understand the need for this centre and the challenges that come with the large number of youth that use it. This is why we continue to support and assist where we can. All companies should find a way to give back to their communities. WorldVentures recognises the impact that sport has on the youth of the country, such as developing social skills, learning co-operation, and teamwork, and this is why we continue to support institutions such as this,” said WorldVentures Foundation Spokesperson, John Keogh.
The work session was followed by an afternoon of fun at the centre with some local children from under-privileged backgrounds.
