School trumps in random search

Their bags as well as areas within the schools that might house illegal goods were also searched.

The hard discipline that has been instilled in West Ridge High School this year is bearing fruit.

During a random search conducted by Roodepoort Police, the officers almost came out empty handed.

The officers, which included Constable Shumikazi Mbuli, Colonel André Laing and Captain Nonhlanhla Khumalo went into randomly chosen classes and searched the male and female learners for any contraband.

Their bags as well as areas within the schools that might house illegal goods were also searched. The officers found items such as dagga, knives, cigarettes, Rizla paper and matches.

Later that day, the officers also visited Kruiner Kleuters Crèche where they taught the learners about safety and the work police officers do.
