Update: Still no progress in kidnapped baby case

More than four months after Thokozile Mncube’s one-day-old baby was kidnapped outside Coronation Hospital on 24 September 2016, the police have yet to make inroads into the case.
The initial investigation was botched by the then investigating officer (IO) who wasted time, showed incompetence and handled the case unprofessionally. The case was later handed over to the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit. But says the father, Thulani, the current IO has not given the family any feedback since two months ago.
The Record is currently trying to track down the current IO to determine the status of the case.
