One man’s trash is another man’s treasure

Donate your old and unwanted items to Have a Heart care centre in Roodepoort

The residents of the Have a Heart Care Centre in Roodepoort have fallen victim to a series of events resulting in them being in dire need of basic necessities.

Marius Oelofse, the founder of the centre, said they desperately need old clothing and any old or unwanted items that the community can donate. “We will sell these items at a jumble sale, and use the money raised to pay the outstanding rent and buy food for the residents,” Marius said.

The centre recently underwent a health and fire inspection and was found wanting. “We had to do quite a few things in order for us to keep our doors open. One of these things was to build a wall at the fire escape. If there is someone in the community who can offer assistance and support with this matter, it would be greatly appreciated,” he said.

Should you wish to offer assistance or need more information on how you can help the residents of this centre, contact Marius Oelofse on 082 952 7151.

Marius said he and the residents are grateful for all the support received from the community to date. “We want to thank everyone who has already offered assistance and donated needed items from the bottom of our hearts,” he said.
