Annual sport day a huge success

Princess High School's RCL secretary ensures a sports day with no incidents or injuries

The learners from Princess High School recently had the opportunity to participate in their annual sports day.

This event is very popular, and learners and teachers alike usually participate with a lot of excitement and enthusiasm. The learners always look forward to watching the teachers compete in the annual fun race and the competition between the teachers runs very high.

Learners in Grades 8 to 12 participated in the track and field events to show off their athletic skills. The field events were trimmed downed for the day, making the long jump the event of choice. During the day’s activities, it could be seen that Princess High School definitely has a very talented pool of athletes.

But, to ensure the day went off without incidents or injuries, the secretary of the Representative Council of Learners, Caitlyn Benjamin, made sure emergency services were on standby.

This was not an easy feat, as the school could not afford the emergency services. “I approached ER24 to ask for assistance at our sports day, and the regional manager, Gareth Staley, did not hesitate to offer their assistance – at no cost to the school,” an elated Caitlyn said.

With the paramedics in attendance, the day could go ahead as planned, and there was no extra strain or pressure put on the staff at Princess Clinic. “I would like to thank Gareth, as well as Rufus Kubayi and Prince Khumalo from ER24 for spending the day with us and helping us to make a success of this event,” Caitlyn concluded.
