38 arrests over the weekend

HONEYDEW – Weekend operations result in multiple arrests...

Honeydew police officers apprehended 38 suspects for various crimes committed in the policing precinct over the weekend.

The arrests formed part of an ongoing crime prevention operation conducted by the station.

Twenty-nine suspects were arrested for drunk driving and negligence, and the remaining arrests were for shoplifting, possession of dagga and assault.

Spokesperson for Honeydew Community Policing Forum, Jon Rosenberg, who was part of a separate patrolling initiative, said he was disappointed that many property owners left their cars parked outside their properties.

Rosenberg warned residents on the Weltevreden Park Community group on Facebook and said, “I can’t believe how many vehicles were parked outside properties on pavements. We as the forum and [police] have continually warned against this as we have a high number of thefts out of vehicles and theft of vehicles in our area.”
