National Frozen Yogurt Day

Enjoy a healthier alternative to ice cream on #NatonalFrozenYogurtDay

6 February is National Frozen Yogurt Day and is celebrated annually.

Frozen yogurt sales increase annually as the demand grows for healthier alternatives to ice cream. With the explosion of flavours and topping choices, the popularity of frozen yogurt keeps on growing.

Frozen yogurt was first developed in 1970 in the United States and produced by HP Hood as a soft-serve treat called Frogurt. Humphreys and Dannon soon followed with their own versions of the frozen treat.

The popularity of frozen yogurt grew in the 1980s, mostly because of its health-food status. Ice-cream manufacturers soon caught on and started offering low-fat options.

Frozen yogurt is making a comeback as more people are starting to prefer the tart taste of yogurt.

To celebrate today, visit your favourite frozen yogurt store and enjoy a delicious frozen snack. If you feel adventurous, try making your own frozen yogurt with recipes found on the internet. Some flavours you can try are vanilla, chocolate, cherry cheesecake, strawberry and many more.
