Local businesses go to war on lawns

Join the Jolly Jack business league

The greens of Witpoortjie Bowling Club will resemble a battlefield next month (9 February) as local businesses face off against each other. This battle will be one to decide who are the Kings and Queens of the greens in the Jolly Jack Business League. Not only is the league meant to prove who is the best, but also to show the community that the sport of lawn bowls is not just for old people dressed in white.

The Jolly Jack Bar in collaboration with the Witpoortjie Bowling Club is challenging all local businesses to enter a team of four and go to war for their companies’ honour.

Teams are encouraged to design their own uniforms and wear their companies’ names and logos on their chests as they put their best barefoot forward and get the bowls rolling.

To ensure that the fight is fair, a pre-league crash course will be available to all teams. Bowls are also available at the club for teams to ensure that they are adequately armed.

Refreshments will be available before, during and after all the matches to ensure that all warriors’ throats are kept lubricated and their energy levels high.

For more information on the league which also starts on 9 February, contact Ian Taylor on 0742601095 or at email witpoortjiebowlingclub@gmail.com.
