Men who robbed kid at gunpoint arrested
Cool-headed security guard called the police.

The two men who robbed a child at gunpoint earlier this week, have been arrested after trying to pull the same stunt yesterday (24 January).
The complainant alleged that when she arrived home at about 5.40pm her 10-year-old son told her that a man had run off with his cellphone. He explained to his mother that the white male was with a coloured male. When they asked him what he was doing, he told them he was playing games. One of the men allegedly requested to make a call from the boy’s cellphone and he obliged. The suspect pretended to dial a number and then suddenly ran away with the phone. He tried to use the cellphone but could not because it was password-protected.
The suspect then went to the security guard at the complex to help him with the cellphone. The security guard recognised the cellphone as the boy’s property. When he confronted the suspect, the man pulled out a firearm and pointed it at him, but the guard managed to lock himself inside the guard room and called the police.
The boy pointed out the suspects to the police.
The Record reported on Tuesday (24 January) that the same two men robbed a child in the same fashion on South Road.
Both suspects, aged 19 and 22, were arrested and detained at Roodepoort Police Station on charges of armed robbery.
