1. 6-year-old flung from car during hijacking
The Bright family became a household name in Roodepoort after their six-year-old son were thrown from their hijacked vehicle when the hijackers crashed it near Hoërskool Florida. It took the mom, Marilize, baby Martinique and daughter Abigail weeks to recover.
Probably 2016’s most disturbing story. 22-year-old Marthinus Pelser is currently incarcerated at Krugersdorp Correctional Facility pending his trial in which he stands accused of gruesomely murdering his six-month-old baby boy Deon.
3. Woman survives sinister hijacking ordeal
A resident from Roodekrans, who can not be named due to safety concerns, survived a hair-raising attempted hijacking that saw her and her companion being followed from Constantia Kloof to her home. The hijackers seemed to have known her routine to the finest detail.
4. Boy dies on his way to fetch school report
A 13-year-old boy, JC van Loggerenberg, was found on the railway line near the corner of Albertina Sisulu and Chamdor Roads on his way to fetch his school report. This after he was thrown from a moving train.
5. Father brutally attacked during armed robbery
One of seven family members was attacked with a panga during an attempted armed robbery. This happened when Gert Botha tried to defend his family.
6. Metro cop gets racist after being caught red-handed
“Find another f***ing parking” a Metro cop told a resident after he confronted the officer for parking on a disabled parking bay. He then went off on a racist rant using more colourful language.
Lynette Beukes was found strangled by her husband and son in their home on Banket Drive.
8. Severe storm approaching western parts of Gauteng
Amid some of the strangest weather South Africa ever experienced, ranging from tornadoes to severe flash floods, this warning had residents scrambling to ensure their safety.

A gang driving a white Mercedes-Benz who committed an array of daring armed robberies caused panic every time they struck.
10. Video: Man attacks motorist with knife in road-rage incident
The headline said it all. The incident took place in Wilro Park and in the video it can be clearly seen how the young man pulls out a huge knife to threaten another motorist.
