Criminals will have no place to hide
Businessmen mow down grass to keep their area tidy and crime free
A group of businessmen, under the banner, My Neighbour, in the Little Falls area are taking time off their busy schedules and rallying together to mow grass in the area.
Apart from beautifying the place, the initiative was instituted after the association was convinced that the lack of mowing in the area had developed into a hotspot for crime.
Elan Webb, who is the association’s poster-child, said the aim was to keep the area tidy and stop criminals from using the grass to commit all sorts of crimes. “If we keep the grass short, the area will look attractive and criminals won’t have a place to hide,” he said.
Webb added the project is all about caring about the community and getting everyone involved. “We are all about caring for each other as a neighbourhood association, but in order to succeed in what we do, we need more hands from the community.”
The project was in conjunction with security companies and local businesses.
The area between Hendrik Potgieter and Fredenharry roads was tackled on 9 December by eager residents using their own cutting tools to get the job done.
Webb said the next area on their list is Strubens Valley and surrounds.
