It is in our hands now

Tanya from Roodepoort writes:

David Townsend, I take my hat off to you!

I matriculated from Florida Park High School, and can remember from about 1992 that graveyard being an eyesore. It was a shame because it was well-maintained before that. But let’s look at the bigger picture, City Parks does not maintain any of these sites, and the Enoch Sontanga cemetery has no fence, except at the Muslim, Hindu and Jewish sites. Why?

Because the public have taken care of it. The Christian side looks horrific! The site opposite Westgate Shopping Centre, started getting a fence, and that ground to a dead – excuse the word – halt. So, communities are now expected to take care of these sites?

Fine, then we will establish committees, bill the city and see if we get payment. Look what happened to the “pot hole” initiative! It worked! It was awesome! It was crushed!

So we must decide… I say… Let’s take our residences and surrounding areas back. Let’s put in the time the city won’t.
