Police has action plan for festive season

More than 32 000 police officers, as well as 2 000 police trainees will be deployed across Gauteng.

The Police will be out in full force in December but residents must stay vigilant, said Gauteng Provincial Police Commissioner Deliwe de Lange.

De Lange recently announced the police’s plan of action for December in Midrand, when she launched the Back2Basics Operation. More than 32 000 police officers, as well as 2 000 police trainees will be deployed across Gauteng. Visible policing operations will be conducted at more than 17 shopping malls, taxi ranks and other crime hotspots.

Stop and search operations and roadblocks will also be held with the assistance of 13 000 Metro Police officers.

The police will take a multi-disciplinary approach which will involve other law agencies as well as the business community, said De Lange.
