Top achiever scoops awards

HONEYDEW – Boskop Primary School learner Victor Igbojinn, reaps the reward of his hard work.

Boskop Primary School’s Victor Igbojinn, recently scooped top awards at his school’s prize-giving evening.

His educators described him as a quiet person who leads by example, without fear and carries out his duties in a fair, friendly and respectful manner and noted that he is also very reliable.

Twelve-year-old Igbojinn said he studied hard and put his trust in God and spends two hours on each subject, every day. “I really feel great about the awards that I won because I really worked hard throughout the year,” he said and added that, one day, he wants to own his own company and that when he gets to university, he’s planning on studying business accounting.

Vice principal of Boskop Primary School, Vearley le Roux said the school was very proud of Igbojinn’s achievements as she could not recall a learner having received so many accolades. “What makes Victor special is that he is humble and always has a smile on his face – even in tough times,” she said.

Earlier in the year, Vicor was chosen by the Flight Centre Travel Group Foundation as the recipient of a full bursary that will allow him to attend Trinityhouse Randpark Ridge High School.

Victor’s mother Tecla Igbojinn, explained that her son’s father passed away when he was just a baby but she was determined to bring him to South Africa, from Nigeria, so that he could get a better education. “I struggled to get us here and I’m so glad that my son has been awarded a bursary because it will be a weight off my shoulders. I am relieved that my son’s future is secure now through this bursary that he has obtained from the Flight Centre Travel Group Foundation,” said the proud mother, earlier this year.

Victor’s achievements include:

  •  Leadership boys trophy
  •  Sportsman trophy of the year
  • Dux scholar trophy of the year
  • Best all-rounder trophy.
