A high-ranking officer from the Metro Police’s Internal Affairs Directorate (IAD) yesterday (17 November) informed the Record that contrary to public opinion they regard misconduct by their officers in a very serious light and do take the necessary steps to discipline them, including dismissal. Over and above giving warnings they also open a docket for the member in question. Whether the member wants to co-operate or not, the disciplinary process proceeds.
Residents who have any complaints about Metro Police members’ conduct can lay a complaint at the IAD. They can be reached on 011 490 1797.
