The Rotarians of Morningside have once again extended a helping hand to Laerskool De La Rey in Newlands. This time, they donated a number of E-Beam Interactive Boards from Educational Teaching Solutions to the school. The boards allow text, images and videos to be projected onto a board which will assist in lessons.
This is not the first time the Rotary Club has worked with the school. Just recently, they donated stationery worth R15 000 to the most needy learners in the school.
The school’s principal, Peet Badenhorst, was extremely happy and humbled by the donation.
“This will not only help the learners, it will help the teachers do their job better and assist the learners to excel in their school work,” he said.
The principal’s words were echoed by Amy Kelly, from Educational Teaching Solutions.
“Technology is moving forward and this will help them get up to speed with the rest of society. That way, when they leave school, they won’t be behind. This is just a start for the school and will be a great teaching aid for the learners,” she said.
A former member of the Morningside Club, Greta du Bois, has relocated to Kingston in Canada, where she has joined the Cataraqui Rotarians, and has arranged for the two clubs to work together. They will be looking to supply more interactive boards to the school in a project that will commence sometime in the new year.
