Breaking: Bomb threat at Westgate
Currently waiting for Bomb Disposal Unit.
A disturbing phone call caused panic among shoppers and tenants of Westgate Shopping Centre at about noon today.
A man called the manager of the Absa branch in the centre saying there was a bomb in the building and that it “would go off in five minutes”. As per the centre’s operations procedure the lower level of the centre was evacuated and the police called in. A search by the K9 unit produced nothing.
Currently, as per protocol, the police are waiting for the Bomb Disposal Unit to do a final check and declare the scene safe.
