Photos: Pedestrian critical after vehicle ploughs through wall

Accident to be investigated by Metro Police.

A pedestrian is in a serious condition after being struck by a vehicle on South Road this morning.

The freak accident occurred at about 7.05am. It is alleged that the vehicle, a Volkswagen Fox, was travelling from the direction of Westgate Shopping Centre towards Corlett Avenue when the driver lost control just past Poplar Street, due to water on the road surface. He hit the pedestrian, a male, and then crashed through the wall of a house close to the corner of South Road and Geelvink Street.

ER24 attended to the seriously injured patient before taking him to a nearby hospital.

The driver was unharmed.

The accident will be the subject of an investigation by the Metro Police.
