Christiaan Prinsloo (8) of Maragon Private Schools excelled at the Appaloosa Nationals in Parys, Free State.
The annual Appaloosa Nationals took place from 21 to 23 October at the Afridome and showcased the best Appaloosa sports horses in the country.

Prinsloo, a Featherbrooke resident, rode his three-year-old pony, Kondos Andraki II, who has only been under the saddle for six months.
He won several awards for reserve champion pony rider, pre-novice show pony, matching pairs (with Aisling McCarthy on Africa’s Miss Galaxy), pre-novice utility pony and pre-novice Pleasure Horse.

Prinsloo also took position three in most colourful Appaloosa and first pony in hand, and was placed in the overall ridden championship and dress-up categories.
Prinsloo is coached by McCarthy of Glover Paddocks Equestrian Park.
“Before the show, we tried to manage Chris’ expectations and we would have been happy to come home with one rosette from the whole show. Chris wanted one from every class and he got it plus two trophies,” said McCarthy.
