Metro Police catch dangerous drivers

RUIMSIG – Metro Police kept watch on Peter Road to catch dangerous drivers.

The Johannesburg Metro Police Department patrolled Peter Road with the aim of putting a stop to reckless driving outside Two Rivers Estate.

“We received complaints from residents, particularly from Two Rivers Estate, of the dangerous driving on Peter Road where people are using the turning lanes to go straight and creating serious safety concerns,” said Leah Knott, Ward 97 councillor.

“I went there to have a look and witnessed multiple potential head-on collisions due to this. A taxi also used the pavement to skip traffic and drove straight for where I was standing at the time. I have also sent a request to various City departments, including the Joburg Roads Agency, to investigate this particular section for a more permanent solution in making it safer,” Knott added.

Metro police were at the problem section directly outside Two Rivers Estate on 18 October and issued seven citations to taxis and four citations to normal vehicles for driving into oncoming traffic.
