WELTEVREDEN PARK – A young tennis star aims for a successful career in tennis.
Aleksandar Simovski (12) has dreams of Wimbledon and becoming the next Novak Djokovic.
This young tennis star and Grade 6 pupil of Weltevreden Park Primary School, began playing tennis with his dad when he was six years old and it only took six years for him to take the bronze medal in his age group at the KZN Tennis South Africa Series in Westville in July. According to Tennis South Africa, national rankings, Simovski is currently ranked sixth in the U12 boys’ category in the country.
It was Simovski’s first time participating in the championships and he said, “I am proud of my achievements and was taken by surprise by achieving third place.”
He plans to increase his training efforts to be placed first in the championship, next year. Before then, Simovski looks forward to next year’s tennis season, which will begin with the D12 League and Regional Championships, where he will compete for the Gauteng team.
Head of sport at Weltevreden Park Primary, Quintus Writes said Simovski is one of the best tennis players who has ever attended the school.
