Nine suspects were arrested earlier this morning (7 October) at the Khanda Industrial Park in Stormill.
According to Colonel Kay Makhubela, the men broke into the property and started loading boxes from the factory into the two trucks they had arrived in.
The security guard who spotted the suspects called the police, who were swiftly on scene. When they arrived, a shootout between the suspects and the owner of the property ensued. The police managed to apprehend all the suspects.
“One of the nine suspects was shot and injured; he was taken to a local hospital under police guard. The rest of the suspects were detained and will appear in court soon,” Makhubela said.
No details have been given as to what the suspects were trying to steal from the factory.
