Success at new inter-school league
RUIMSIG – Six smaller schools compete to set records for future events of their new league.
Radford House School and five other schools recently held its first inter-schools athletics event at Ruimsig Athletics Stadium.
Radford came up with the idea of creating a league of small schools for themselves, as they were not part of a league and wanted an opportunity for their pupils to compete against other schools.
Excitement was high as the six schools competed to set their records for future events. The athletics events of the day were shot-put, long jump, sprints and relay.
Final results:
1st – Radford House
2nd – Orban Private School
3rd – Avalon Steve Jobs School
4th – Newton House School
5th – Arrows of Destiny
6th – Northriding College.
The Spirit Trophy was won by Northriding College for its constant motivating chants and good sportsmanship.
“So far, it’s gone well. It’s a nice hot day and everything is running smoothly. The main thing is, the children are having fun,” said vice principal of Radford House, Leah Breeds.
According to Breeds, this league will not only remain on the sports field but will hopefully get these six schools competing together in different activities, such as chess, drama and public speaking.
