Masses work together for safety
RUIMSIG - Security companies and emergency services joins forces in order to combat crime together.
Seven security companies, ER24 and VitalMed came together at the Roodepoort Athletics Stadium on 23 September to create awareness about their joint effort to fight crime in the area. Their main purpose and their number one priority is to keep people safe.
Corinda Loots, owner of BCI Protection Services explained that all groups involved in this collaborative effort belong to one WhatsApp group, and if something happens to a person belonging to any one of the security companies, then any company can respond, making safety their goal.
Loots explained that after recent riots in the area she decided to start this initiative so that security can be optimised.
Companies involved in this initiative are BCI Protection Services, K9 Excellence, EC Security, GP Tactical, Drift Reaction Service’s Ironfist Squad, VitalMed, ER24 and DMS Security.
Rudi Holtzhausen from EC Security and Francois de Klerk from GP Tactical agreed that working together is important in order to be proactive in combatting crime. De Klerk explained that problems they currently face are theft of motor vehicles, house break-ins and house robberies.
Charl Langenhoven from GP Tactical added that the poisoning of dogs is also an issue on the rise. Another problem pointed out by Holtzhausen is the strategical placing of nails in leaves. If one drives over these loaded leaves, their tyres would probably be punctured.
Operations manager for DMS Security, Ivan Shawe said that if all involved act en masse, they can reduce crime. “This is also for high visibility reasons,” concluded Shawe.
