Lions Club inducts new member
Wilro Park Lions induct new member at meeting
The Lions Club of Wilro Park held their monthly meeting on Tuesday 20 September. However, this was not an ordinary club meeting.
It was attended by the District Governor, Bernd Gerhard who also had the pleasure of handing out a few special awards and inducting a new member.
The new member, Tania Harris was escorted to the front by her sponsor, Sandy van Heerden.
They were welcomed by Bern, who said, “To be inducted as a new Lions Club member does not just happen. You need to be involved with projects from the club before you can be accepted as a full member. It is my pleasure to welcome and induct Tania as a member or Wilro Park tonight.”
The Lions Club pledge was read out and Tania had to reply with an “I do” to show her acceptance of the pledge. Then she received her certificate from the club president, Delphine Ferreira.
This was not the only presentation, as Sandy found out, when Bernd asked her to wait before escorting the new member back to her seat.
“We have a gold certificate and two centennial pins, one being silver, to present to Sandy for being an excellent sponsor and to recognise and appreciate her dedication to growing the club in our centennial year,” he said.
She subsequently was presented with her certificate and pins by the District Governor himself.
With the presentation and induction done, everyone returned to their seats and the meeting resumed.
After the meeting members had a chance to grab a bite to eat and have something to drink while enjoying a quick chat.
