Four arrested for stolen bakkie
Suspect found with bakkie's keys on his person.
Four suspects have been arrested in Fleurhof for being in possession of a stolen vehicle.
On Thursday 1 September, at about 8.30am, the Florida Police Visible Policing’s commander, Lieutenant Colonel Marite and Warrant Officer Van Heerden acted upon information received from a member of the community about a suspicious vehicle that was parked in front of a house in Pine Street. They immediately rushed to the address and found a white Nissan Hardbody with only a rear registration plate.
In the house, they found four males. They were questioned about the vehicle, but could not give a satisfactory response and were evasive. One of the suspects had the car keys in his possession. The police carried out a vehicle enquiry and discovered that the bakkie had previously been reported stolen, recovered and then stolen again during the previous week, and that a case had been opened at the Parkview Police Station. The vehicle identification number on the licensing disc was in fact that of a Ford Fiesta.
The four suspects, aged between 24 and 35, were arrested for possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle. They will appear in the Roodepoort Magistrates’ Court soon.
