Bring ‘n braai for community
WELTEVREDEN PARK – Annual General Meeting for Welview Resident's Association held with a bring and braai.
The Welview Residents’ Association planned a fun day for young and old when residents came together in Candlewood Street for a bring ‘n braai in the warm, sunny weather.
The association’s chairperson, Tana Cope, said this braai was a perfect way to enjoy the company of community members. Apart from the braai and social opportunity for community members, a meeting was held to give people the opportunity to meet their new ward councillor and hear about other developments and news in their area. For the children, there were jumping castles, sand art and face-painting to make their day fun, as well.
Lance Verster, Londoloza Protection Services Director, said the safety of Weltevreden Park residents was important. He said crime was high in this area a while ago, but it was better now. He urged residents to be careful of car jamming and to make sure their motor vehicles were locked.
Ward 126 councillor, David Brand, said it was important for people to remember that he did not only represent the DA and people who voted accordingly, but he will be there for the entire community. CPF Sector 2 chairperson, John Baisley, explained that the CPF was there to be the community’s link between the police and members of the community. He explained that Weltevreden Park was the largest suburb in the country and there were 15 residents associations.
Weltevreden Park is in the process of having fibre optics installed and Tevesh Pather, of Vumatel, said people should be aware that workers wear pink vests and contractors wear either green or yellow vests, but will also have their identities on them.
This day made for a fun and informative day for people forming part of the Welview Residents’ Association.
