Greenbelt dumping causes frustration
WELTEVREDEN PARK – Resident concerned about sudden illegal dumping in the greenbelt area opposite his home.
A resident of Weltevreden Park is unhappy and concerned about sudden dumping in the stream in the greenbelt area outside his home.
The resident – who wishes to remain anonymous – said he’s not sure whether it’s neighbours or the municipal responsible for the dumping.
“I’m one of the few people maintaining the greenbelt area outside my house, even though it is not mine.”
The rubble is dumped into the stream and this has been going on for a week now. The resident said it makes no sense to dump there as the stream is so narrow and erosion is prevalent.
The greenbelt area has been reported on before on account of litter, cable theft vagrants and now, illegal dumping.
Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar of the Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) encouraged residents to report illegal dumping to the bylaw management unit and it would help to show some kind of proof, such as a photograph.
Details: Bylaw Management Unit, 011 490 1630.
