His performance was over-shadowed by Christian Taylor (USA) who qualified for the men’s triple jump in pole position with a distance of 17,24m while Mokoena posted a distance of 16,51m in his three attempts.

Currently, South Africa’s medal count stands at nine after Lawrence Brittain bagged a silver for rowing.
