Police create visibility

HONEYDEW - Spokesperson of Honeydew Police warn about motor vehicle theft and theft out of motor vehicles.

The alarming rise in the number of vehicle-related crimes urged the Honeydew Police, the Honeydew CPF, resident’s associations and Honeydew Sector 2, to do something about it.

Spokesperson for Honeydew Police, Warrant Officer Karen Jacobs, joined other officers of the police at the Honeydew Shopping Centre, Rock Cottage, Town Square, Hillfox Value Centre and Northgate on 15 August to raise awareness of this very serious problem. Jacobs said that theft of motor vehicles and theft out of motor vehicles remain very high.

She added that signal-jamming is also a very big problem and warned motorists, urging them to ensure that their motor vehicles are securely locked.

“People still leave their belongings in their cars, like their laptops,” said Jacobs. She explained that people tend to say they are just going to slip into the shops, but a crime can happen so fast, especially at shopping centres, malls and gyms.

Apart from handing out pamphlets and warning the public, Jacobs also

talked to car guards at the various shopping centres to make them aware

of the rise in motor vehicle-related crimes.
