Agape’s love for athletics
ALLEN'S NEK – It was a day of fun and competitiveness at Agape Christian School's inter-house athletics.
It was a battle on the sports field between the green Warriors and the red Conquerors, which was made all the more intense by spirited songs and yells of excitement.
Pupils, teachers and parents from Agape Christian School in Weltevreden Park came together at Allen Glen High School on 29 July for their inter-house athletics. The pupils were more than ready to not only compete individually but to represent their teams.
Theresa Jennings from Agape explained that the athletes who performed well in the inter-house will advance to the inter-schools athletics in September at the Ruimsig Athletics Stadium. Pupils competed in sprints, shot put, long jump and 400m relay races. For the pupils who did not compete in the athletics, there were fun activities like egg-and-spoon races and sack races.
Furthermore, mothers and fathers had the chance to participate in 100m sprints. The highlight of the day was when teachers and parents went head-to-head in a relay race. There was no official winner in the athletics, but the Conquerors won the spirit cup for their support for their competing team members.
