A motorcycle rider, believed to be in his late 20s or early 30s, was killed this weekend.
The incident took place on Saturday afternoon (30 July) on Ontdekkers Road near Beacon Road in Florida North. ER24 paramedics found the rider lying a few metres away from his bike. According to ER24 spokesperson Werner Vermaak, it appeared as if the motorbike rider had collided into the side of a garbage vehicle in a nearby service road.
“Paramedics immediately assessed the rider and found that he had a very weak pulse. While attending to him he went into cardiac arrest and paramedics initiated CPR,” he said.
Despite all the efforts of the paramedics on scene, the rider, who sustained multiple injuries, could not be revived and was declared dead.
The scene was handed over to Johannesburg Metro Police to conduct an investigation into the exact cause of the collision.
