A boy believed to be about 10 years of age was recently left critically injured after being struck by a motor vehicle.
The incident took place at the intersection of Olywenhout Street and Albertina Sisulu Road in Bosmont. ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found the young patient lying in one of the smaller streets near the intersection.
According to ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring, paramedics found the boy had sustained serious injuries to his head, chest and abdomen, leaving him in a critical condition.
“Paramedics immediately began treatment and initiated numerous advanced life support interventions in order to stabilise his vital signs,” he said.
Once treated, the patient was transported under advanced life support supervision to the Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital for urgent treatment.
Neither the vehicle in question, nor its driver, were found on the scene, but the authorities were called to conduct further investigations.
