No petrol strike ‘yet’
JOBURG – It is believed wage negotiations came to a dead lock.
The Chemical Energy Paper Printing Wood and Allied Workers Union (CEPPWAWU) confirmed that there was no fuel delivery strike, ‘yet’.
A wave of messages circulated on social media saying a planned fuel delivery strike would start on 27 June, leading to a rush of drivers filling up during the week. See previous story here
Clement Chitja, the union’s head of department for collective bargaining, explained that wage negotiations with certain oil refinery companies came to a dead lock on Friday, 24 June, and that a strike involving the union has not happened yet.

Chitja told the Midrand Reporter that there was no need to panic yet over the availability of fuel.
