Update: Pelser’s family maintains silence
Friends say they might talk.
To date, the family of Marthinus Pelser, who was recently arrested in connection with the death of his six-month-old baby, has maintained silence, and did not attend his first court appearance.
The Record has managed to obtain his sister’s telephone number but numerous attempts to make contact with her have been unsuccessful. Acquaintances and friends from his days as a high school pupil in Rustenberg have said they are willing to talk to the Record on condition that they remain anonymous, pending legal advice.
Pelser will appear in the Roodepoort Magistrates’ Court tomorrow. The Record will be reporting live from the court.
