Good news for Roodies at Comrades
Comrades Marathon success for Roodies
More than 50 athletes from the Roodepoort Athletic Club crossed the finish line of the Comrades Marathon last weekend.
The club had almost 100 athletes participating in the annual ultra-marathon in KwaZulu-Natal.
Goiliwe Mokone was the first Roodies to cross the line in a time of 7:01:18.
He received a silver medal for his hard work.
Zacharia Motlhabani closely followed behind him to claim a Bill Rowan medal.
He finished his race 30 minutes behind Mokone with a time of 7:31:08.
The club’s Dale Rynhoud finished his 26th Comrades Marathon winning bronze with a time of 9:36:13.
Doing her 20 Comrades Marathon, Bonnie Posthumus crossed the finish line in a time of 11:55:36 for a Vic Clapham medal.
The club’s novices did not disappoint this year.
Nicky Gouw won a bronze medal as she crossed the finish line in a time of 10:38:02.
Lizette Barrish came home in a time of 10:31:46 to win a bronze medal and Quintin van Zyl crossed the line for a bronze medal in a time of 9:12:06.
Janéll De Wet won a Vic Clapham medal when she crossed the finish line of the Comrades Marathon in a time of 11:55:37.
