A Record journalist caught two motor vehicle thieves in the act this afternoon (18 May) but failed to apprehend them.
At about 12.30pm another Caxton employee alerted the journalist to suspicious activity at a vehicle parked between the Caxton office and Spar. He ran downstairs and as he entered the small parking lot he startled the suspect, who was busy at the door of the vehicle he was breaking into. The journalist and a street vendor gave chase but were out of the luck as the suspect narrowly beat them to his getaway vehicle.
Residents are asked to be on the lookout for the two suspects’ vehicle, a bottle green Golf of which the registration number starts with DY. One of the suspects is tall and well dressed.
If the vehicle is spotted contact Frik van Zyl of West Suburbs Roodepoort Neighbourhood Watch (WSRNW) on 084 581 9223.
