Market to chase away winter blues
RUIMSIG – The Gateway Society invites people to attend their very special winter market in aid of the residents of the society.
With winter right around the corner, The Gateway Society in Ruimsig promises to leave people feeling warm with special entertainment, food and handmade products with their famous winter craft and food market on 28 May.
Gateway Society offers a home and school to mentally and/or physically disabled people. Moira Short, fundraising manager at The Gateway Society, said that they offer the stalls at R150 to anyone who wishes to sell their products at the market. By doing this they not only help themselves but also give the opportunity to others to make money by selling their products.
Short further said that there will be live entertainment for not only market goers, but residents of The Gateway Society who will also enjoy the market along with the community. The crafts that are uniquely made at the society’s workshop can be viewed by visitors of the market. Short added that the school will have a pancake stall, which is the perfect treat for any winter weather.
“In order to provide the services we give, we need the funds especially in these tough economic times,” explained Short.
Village manager, Ronel Barnard said that they are very excited for the market. “Everyone works so hard in order to make this market a success,” commented Barnard.
Anyone who wishes to have a stall at the market can contact Short.
