Update: Principal concerned over shooting

Two foreign nationals injured.

Claremont — The principal of Claremont Primary School, Danie Marx said he is shocked and concerned over the two foreign nationals having been shot at a tuck shop next to the school earlier this week.

During an attempted robbery, the owner of the tuck shop on Amatola Crescent and his assistant were shot, but the assailants had to flee the scene with nothing. Both victims survived.

According to Marx the shooting “luckily happened at 12.50pm, just before the younger children went home.

“The community usually informs the school when serious incidents like this take place in the area. It is crucial for me to know about such incidents as the children’s wellbeing is always my first priority,” said Marx.

Meanwhile Luitenant Kay Makhubela, Provincial Police spokesperson confirmed the shooting incident.
